Playing chord melody arrangements on ukulele is not very common, even though it’s so easy to learn and sounds so great! It can transform even the most simple of tunes into beautiful engaging arrangements.
In the first module of Chord Melody for Uke, Marcy Marxer passed on a very versatile vocabulary of major and dominant chord voicings designed to highlight any song’s melody. In this second module, Marcy will expand your chord melody vocabulary with sixth chords, minor 7ths and you’ll also explore applications for diatonic scales.
You’ll play your way through the course, first learning chord scales and how to construct chord melody arrangements, and then working on a series of ukulele chord melody arrangements and playalongs. Marcy kicks off the course with a review of the first module followed by a section where you’ll learn 6th Chord Scales in the key of C, F, G, and Bb. Each of these lesson sets features a chord scale demonstration and a practice session in their respective keys. Marcy also includes a lesson on changing keys. You’ll then learn to play ukulele chord melody arrangements for Frère Jacques in Bb, and Mary’s Lamb in C.
In the second section, Marcy teaches you minor 7th chord scales for A minor7, Bb minor7, D minor7, and G minor7 also with lesson sets featuring chord scale demonstrations and a practice sessions in their respective keys. You’ll learn a new chord melody arrangement
for Mary’s Lamb.
In the third and final section, you’ll explore Diatonic chord scales in the key of C, F, G and Bb including more demonstrations and practice sessions. You’ll learn two more ukulele chord melody arrangements for Avalon in C and Bill Bailey in C.
Marcy includes an indispensable collection of chord charts, chord scale diagrams, tab, notation, and jam tracks. Every lesson also includes a playalong practice session to help you internalize all of the chord shapes and voicings. You can loop and slow down any of the videos so you can work with the lessons at your own pace.
