Simple. Intuitive. Tape machined 808 Samples have to be.

Manufacturing for Rolands iconic TR-808 began in 1980 and then ceased promptly in 83. Mainly because, well, it was a bit terrible.

At least that was the general consensus. Even Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing couldn’t peak the audio communities interest. Though if we’re honest, the audio production community of the early ’80s probably didn’t pay a great deal of attention to Marvin. But then, Run-DMC. Thanks Run-DMC.

So, unless you’ve been living in a cave somewhere in middle earth fighting Orcs and drinking with Dwarves for the last 30 years, I’m going to assume you’ve had access to a radio and know what one of these things sound like. But just in case, check this vid below.

So what are you waiting for, do you want us to give you the spiel about how we gathered our collective 808 samples together, poured a dram of fine whiskey each and decided whos 808 was the best, then loaded them up into Pro Tools and slammed them through a Studer A-820 2-inch tape machine to offer you three flavours, normal, 30ips or 7.5ips, then packed them into our #foundryfriday drum machine skin and packaged them up for you to enjoy, then don’t. Scroll down, and grab a copy now. It’s free.
